75 Years Ago Today: Lakehurst, New Jersey, 6 May 1937

The Hindenburg, while docking at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, erupted into flames. Of the 36 passengers and 61 crew aboard, 35 people died (plus one ground crew person). This disaster was broadcast live over radio as it happened.

It has been 75 years and the controversies surrounding this disaster continue. My Sunday (12 May 2012) article this week will be on the Hindenburg. Find out more about this amazing air ship, the disaster, and take a look at the plans for this beautiful ship.

RMS Titanic, SS Bannockburn & Shoes

This Sunday will be my article on Dr. Robert Ballard. There is more to Dr. Ballard than the average person is aware of; his work has touched undersea volcanoes, Word War 2, continental plates, and outer space to name just four.

I am working on an article For Unsolved Mysteries‘ web site on the “Flying Dutchman of the Great Lakes”, the SS Bannockburn.

&

Also, I am working on an article concerning all those shoes beside the Titanic and what they really mean. There is more too it than you might suspect. So, until Sunday take care and have a great day!

V/R,

Joe

Panelists at the Marine Forensics Symposium outside Washington, call for a new expedition to the USS Scorpion’s wreck, saying it may put to rest the multitude of theories about the loss of the USS Scorpion. The expedition is to be led by famed Titanic explorer P.H. Nargeolet.
