George Burns used to say, “One of life’s greatest injustices is that you can’t pick your family.”
I could not disagree with Mr. Burns more. The best members of my family, the ones most important to me are the ones who do not share DNA with me; we share our hearts. – Joe

You are correct, Joe. Most of my family is wonderful, but the vast majority of those who care about me most has to include all the people I have met over the years who have stuck with me and know me well enough to leave, but don’t.

When some of the people I share DNA with act like they do, you better believe I am in awe of my “adopted” family. I even have one friend who became my friend when I was down in the valley and never saw me when I was on the mountain top. Wow!
